BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb 19 (PIA) -- The provincial government and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation(PHIC) here distributed free PhilHealth cards to at least 305 poor villagers from the 25 barangays in this town.

The ID cards will cover the health benefits of the recipients and their families for one year, said Dr. Edwin Galapon, acting provincial health officer.

The ID cards were funded by the provincial government as part of its commitment in expanding the membership of families to the PhilHealth program which is one of the centerpieces of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III’s administration.

“More than P32,000 has been poured by the provincial government to enroll these recipients to the health program. Now they can be assured of health benefits within this year,” Galapon said.

He said more poor families will be enrolled in the PhilHealth program in the coming years as the provincial government will be funding the financial requirements of the recipient poor families. (BME-PIA 2, Nueva Vizcaya)
