BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya, Aug 5 (PIA) -- Provincial officials here announced the start of the construction of a hospital extension to cater to the increasing number of patients seeking medical care and treatment at the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital(NVPH) here.

The announcement was formally made during the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed pediatric and surgical building at the back of the NVPH in Barangay Almaguer North, Wednesday.

The building which will cost P35 million will be partly funded out of the P104 million grant from the Department of Health(DOH); it will house a 50-bed extension building of the present hospital.

Dr. Edwin Galapon, chief of the NVPH, said the construction of the new building was also realized through the assistance of the provincial government by purchasing the land area at a cheaper cost.

“This edifice to be constructed is a result of another collaboration between the provincial government and the DOH which will also include as beneficiaries, the other public hospitals in the province,” he said.

The completion of the extension building will be on March 2013.

The construction of the new pediatric and surgical building is another major development in a joint effort to improve and develop the facilities and other services of the NVPH.

According to Galapon, the NVPH has emerged as a major medical center in Cagayan Valley due to its customer-friendly processes, aggressive physical plant restructuring, and equipment upgrading and modernization, more innovative in-service offerings, and proven capability to generate income.(BME-PIA 2, Nueva Vizcaya)
