Nueva Vizcaya folks honor Independence Day
BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya, June 13 (PIA) -- Various sectors of the society here honored June 12 in different ways, in observance of the Independence Day.
Public and private school teachers displayed flags in several schools in the province as a symbol of the country's independence, while local government units conducted their own program in their respective heroes parks and statues.
In Bayombong town, Mayor John Severino Bagasao led local officials, employees, and private sector representatives in the observance of the country’s independence day at the famous Rizal Shrine and Livelihood Center in Barangay Casat.
A wreath was offered at the shrine, which is also serves as a symbolic memorial park for other recognized heroes in the country.
In Solano town, local officials also offered flowers at the heroes park in Barangay Poblacion with a simple program honoring the national heroes contribution to the country’s independence.
In this town, Mayor Flaviano Balgos led a program honoring Dr. Jose Rizal, whose statue stands in front of the municipal hall in barangay Buag.
The program was attended by municipal employees, members of masons and amaranth, reservists, and members of the Philippine National Police.
After the program, a wreath was also offered at the Rizal statue as a way of honoring the contributions of the national hero.
In Dupax del Norte town, provincial, municipal, and barangay officials along with celebrities and project coordinators of the TV-5 network program Extreme Home Makeover turned over at least 28 housing units to homeless villagers in Barangay Macabenga.
The project was supported by the local government unit of Dupax del Norte, provincial government and the Gawad Kalinga. (BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
