PhilHealth to implement premium rate adjustments October 1
SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela, Sept 7 (PIA) -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) here will implement the premium rate adjustments beginning October 1, after it was postponed in July 2012.
Joseph Reyes, head of PhilHealth-Santiago City, said the agency will already be collecting the premium adjustments from its members in the entire country without anymore postponement this coming October.
Reyes said PhilHealth will be collecting P200 monthly premium rate from the previous P100 monthly premium rate or a total of P2,400 annually from the previous P1,200.
“The agency will implement the premium rate adjustments so that the agency will have the financial muscle to implement the universal health care for Filipinos,” Reyes said.
Reyes assured that the premium rate increase would mean additional health benefits for all its members.
Among the health benefits that will now be covered under PhilHealth are prostate and breast cancers with P100,000 benefit health package and leukemia with P210,000 and some other ailments not covered in the previous PhilHealth case rates. (TCB/MGE-PIA2 Isabela)
