Council of elders formed for Ilagan city’s good governance
ILAGAN CITY, Isabela, Aug 18 (PIA) -- The local executive of Ilagan City has formed a council of elders to guide, guard, advice and recommend to local officials of Ilagan during its transition from its former status as a municipality into a city to ensure good governance.
Ilagan City Mayor Jose Marie L. Diaz said the council of elders was formed to ensure that all transactions of the city government are transparently served and the doubts of anti-Ilagan cityhood groups will be cleared.
On Monday during the first flag raising ceremony as a city, Diaz signed an executive order, creating a transition committee to ensure that all the services and transactions of the city government are transparent.
Ilagan was declared a component city of Isabela on Saturday hours after the plebiscite.
Diaz said the council of elders is composed of a 12-man body headed by Fr. Ingeno Rapadas of Calamagui First Parish Church.
Diaz the city government will invite civil society groups in the city to ensure that the city government funds will be properly allotted to the needed programs, projects and activities that will benefit the people of Ilagan. (TCB/MGE-PIA2, Isabela)
