ILAGAN, Isabela, Aug 3 (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Ilagan led today a briefing on the conduct of plebiscite to the teachers who will serve as election canvassers on August 11.

Lawyer Irving Calauag, election officer of this town, said the briefing entails the duties and responsibilities of teachers in the conduct of plebiscite in the town.

The town of Ilagan aims to be a component city of Isabela and the only requirement to turn the town into a city is a plebiscite where it should get an affirmative vote from its residents.

On Thursday, local officials led by Mayor Jose Marie L. Diaz, conducted a grand motorcade soliciting support of residents from Ilagan to vote for the cityhood of Ilagan.

It was attended by several sectors of the town showing their support and urging those from Isabela to go out and vote for the cityhood.

Meanwhile, police authorities have laid out security plan for the safe conduct of plebiscite on August 11 in coordination with other law enforcement agencies like the Army.

The Isabela police provincial office has also vowed to send some of its troops to make sure the conduct of plebiscite in the town is orderly. (PIA 10, Isabela)
