CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, July 4 (PIA) -- The city government of Cauayan has urged 17 barangays in the city that have not yet complied with the full disclosure policy to post in their barangay halls all transactions for the year.

Cauayan City has 65 barangays and 48 of them have already complied with the order, said the the city planning and development office.

Oliver Francisco, city planning and development coordinator, said his office was ordered by city administrator’s office to conduct inspection on the compliance of barangays to the full disclosure policy being ordered by the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The full disclosure policy was ordered by DILG to show transparency in governance of all local government units and local officials.

The government’s policy requires certain local officials of provinces, cities, and municipalities to fully disclose particular financial transactions of the LGU to keep their constituents informed of how the LGU budget is managed, disbursed and used.

This will enable to promote honest, transparent and orderly management of public funds, minimize if not totally prevent corruption and misuse of public funds, and increase the people’s awareness of the available funds and the allocated amount for development projects in the localities.

The city government of Cauayan warned barangay officials who will not comply with the full disclosure policy will be handed disciplinary actions.
Francisco advised the 17 barangays to use bulletin boards and display the income and expenditures including transactions so that the barangay people will know where the funds of the barangay are expended. (PIA- Isabela)
