PRC restores 10 typhoon-affected schools, health centers
ILAGAN, Isabela, June 2 (PIA) -- With the upcoming opening of classes next week, at least six public schools, two health centers, one communal toilet and one water system that were partially destroyed by typhoons Pedring and Quiel last year are now ready for use after the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Isabela funded the immediate restoration of the said facilities in the three towns of Isabela.
In a report handed to PIA, PRC- Isabela chapter administrator Antonietta Asis said the restoration is part of the emergency assistance program provided by Red Cross to the typhoon affected localities of Jones, Echague and San Agustin.
Asis said the rehabilitated health centers are located at barangay Addalam and Dumawing in Jones, Isabela while the school buildings are located at barangays Tupax, San Sebastian, Minuri, Payac, San Antonio and San Salvador.
She said the school buildings of barangay Payac and San Antonio were completed through the assistance of the local government units of Jones and Echague.
The health and school facilities have undergone repair on roofing system, electrical wirings, doors, windows and walls while the water system rehabilitation was develop to improve the water facility in Villa Bello.
Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chairman Richard Gordon is set to turn over the said facilities to the concerned government officials tomorrow (June 2).
Medical equipments will also be handed by Gordon to the local government units of Jones, Echague and San Agustin. (PIA- Isabela)
