DepEd asks help of provl gov’t in implementing K to 12 program
ILAGAN, Isabela, June 6 (PIA) -- The Department of Education (DepEd) – Isabela asked help from the provincial government in effectively implementing the K + 12 education program.
Lily Domingo, officer-in-charge of DepEd-Isabela, is requesting the provincial government to effectively carry out the implementation of DepEd's ew program most especially in the production and provision of books written in the vernacular to be easily understood by pupils.
Domingo admits that books written in the local dialect are not included by DepEd’s regular books supply and she decided to ask help from the provincial government to provide books in order that elementary pupils will easily understand their lessons in school.
She said that since K to 12 is a new program, funding is still short hence the call for assistance.
The provincial government of Isabela through the Sangguniang Panglalawigan expressed all out support to the DepEd's K to 12 program implementation and is ready to allot funds for the said program.
The central feature of the K to 12 Program is the upgrading of the basic education curriculum to ensure that learners acquire the relevant knowledge and skills they will need to become productive members of society.
It seeks to introduce relevant skills development courses and special interest subjects that will suit the personality, strengths, and career direction of each learner. (TCB/MGE/PIA 2, Isabela)
