Outstanding Isabelinos honored on 156th Isabela founding anniversary

ILAGAN, Isabela, May 16 (PIA) -- The provincial government honored Isabelinos on May 11, Friday, who have shown excellence in the performance of their chosen careers and which, eventually, contributed to the development of Isabela and nearby provinces, last Friday, May 11.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary Manuel Santos, chairman of the 2012 search for most outstanding Isabelinos, said the executive committee of the 156th Isabela Day anniversary decided to give due recognition these men and women.

One of the most outstanding Isabelinos is Maryjane Yadao, in the field of agriculture. Yadao is a resident of Cauayan City and an employee of the city agriculture office whom she is an advocate on agriculture development reform in the city.

On education, Dr. Corazon Barrientos, a resident of Santo Thomas, Ilagan, Isabela was named as a woman with a formidable track record in education as she rose from a mere classroom teacher to assistant regional director of Department of Education region 2.

The Tungapalan family of Barangay 4, San Mateo, Isabela, was named the 2012 model family. The Tungpalan family is composed of Juanito Tungpalan and Anita Tungpalan, while their children are Dr. Joan Tungapalan, Crystal Tungpalan- Arugay, a pharmacist, and Juanito Tungpalan Jr, a Bachelor of Science in Commerce graduate.

Enterpreneur Jose Acierto was recognized as the outstanding Isabelino on Enterpreneurship category. Acierto is from Greenheights, Alibagu, Isabela, where he started his business by establishing a Montessori school in San Pedro, Laguna until it expanded even in the province, particularly in the capital town of Ilagan and in Roxas as well.

Police Superintendent Rolando Bumagat, a resident of San Mariano, Isabela also was recognized as an outstanding Isabelino 2012 in the field of law enforcement. Bumagat is former classroom teacher before joining the military until he transferred to police service as police non-commissioned officer until he now became commissioned officer of the Philippine National Police. Bumagat is now presently assigned at Camp Caringal in Quezon City.

On Science and Technology category, Jose Morante of Magdalena, Cabatuan, Isabela was one of the outstanding Isabelinos awardee. Morante’s contribution to the food industry research has earned for him as the largest food manufacturing in the province and in the region as well.

For culture and the arts category, Jima Pineda of Caliguian, Burgos, Isabela received the award as an outstanding Isabelino 2012. Pineda is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Music and has received numerous awards for being a music compositions.

On public service category, Ilagan Mayor Jose Marie L. Diaz was awarded one of the outstanding Isabelinos. Mayor Diaz is a dentist by profession and his leadership led to the recognitions and awards received by the local government unit both from private and public organizations.

Engineer Anacleto Alcantara also received the Governor Faustino G. Dy III award of citation for being a successful businessman both here and abroad. Alcantara is a resident of Santiago City and is the Most Outstanding Santiagueno 2012 during the 2012 Pattaradday festival.

The 2012 Most Outstanding Isabelino awardees received P20,000 cash award and a trophy, including plaques of recognitions during last Friday’s 156th anniversary celebrations. (TCB/MGE/PIA 2, Isabela)
