Cagayan to celebrate its 429th founding anniversary

TUGUEGARAO CITY, June 9 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Cagayan is set to celebrate its 429th civil government founding anniversary from June 23 to 29, highlighting Ibanag culture and tradition.

Edna Junio, steering committee chair, said several activities have already been lined-up for the week-long Aggao Nac Cagayan with the theme “Fiesta na Maguili” (Fiest of the Townfolks).

On June 23, the celebration will showcase the products of the different municipalities in an agri-trade fair, which will be situated at the Cagayan Sports Complex.

Junio also discussed the other line-up activities, such as the pageant for Ginoo and Binibing Cagayan, sports activities, medical and dental missions, blood olympics, talents search, concerts, and others.

“We have several activities to stage during the Aggao Nac Cagayan that are all focused on the preservation and enhancement of the Cagayano culture and livelihood as well as skills development,” Junio said.

She also stated that the festival will also serve as an avenue towards the promotion of the province’s potentials such as indigenous products, tourism adventures, and rich culture.

She further informed that the over-all budget allotted for the activities to be conducted is P5 million aside from the sponsorships from the different private companies in the different events.

As of this time, Junio said the provincial officials are scouting for possible guests who will grace the occasion. (OTB-PIA2)
