Saturday 25th of February 2012TUGUEGARAO CITY, Feb 25 (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) region 2 is now preparing activities for the conduct of fire prevention month this coming March, to massively advocate a fire-free nation.
Fire inspector Franklin Tabingo, chief-public affairs, said a lot of activities were proposed for the month-long observation to enjoin stakeholders participation in fire prevention and to saturate all fire -prone areas for the bureau's information and education drive.
This year’s theme: “Makiisa, Makialam at Makipatulungan Upang Sunog ay Maiwasan," Tabingo said, is aimed at urging the public to involve themselves in fire prevention to save lives, limbs and properties.
He said parts of the activities include a motorcade to kick-off the observation on March 1 with some government agencies in the region and a fun run which involves all personnel of the fire department in the region to enhance their physical fitness.
Tabingo also said there will be a fire Olympic, engine relay and sports exhibition activities to be done, aside from the massive inspections to be conducted to some establishments and agencies to check their compliance of the fire safety code.
“The fire exhibition will showcase techniques in fire fighting up to the worst scenario,” Tabingo stated.
He said the month-long observation will merely boost information campaign to always remind the public their responsibilities to avoid fire incidents towards a fire free nation. (TCB/OTB/RAT/PIA-2)
