Aparri officials lead anti-dengue awareness campaign
APARRI, Cagayan, Sept 22 (PIA) -- The municipal government of Aparri and its officials spearheaded the anti-dengue awareness campaign in the municipality last September 11.
In the said event, Mayor Ismael V. Tumaru was joined by Vice Mayor Rommel G. Alameda, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Member Shalimar D. Tumaru, M.D., Chairman, SB Committee on Health, Women and Family, Senior Citizen and Social Welfare, and all members of the Sangguniang Bayan as well as employees, teachers and pupils.
The group went to Punta Elementary School and destroyed the breeding grounds of mosquitoes, which are the carriers of the dengue virus.
They also encouraged all residents of Aparri to help in eradicating the menace by using every possible tool and instrument to drive away mosquitoes and tear down their breeding grounds.
Tumaru, a doctor by profession, said the activity manifested the drive of the municipal government to ensure that Aparri is a dengue-free municipality and the health and well-being of every resident are being considered. (Alma C. Diaros and Sabino G. Membrot TCB/ACD/SGM)
