DIFFUN, Quirino, Aug 2 (PIA) — The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office here has organized women with disabilities (WWDs) in the municipality.
Elected as officers are the following: for president, Consolacion Villanueva; vice president, Milagros Antalan; secretary, Rosalina Erana; treasurer, Mary Ann Bernandez; business manager, Sinamar Tubaran; auditor-Ma. Clarita Titras; public information officer, Paloma Orbillo; and sergeant at arms, Leriza Pagurogun.
Villanueva said that through this organization, their goal of providing a voice for the women with disabilities will be strengthened.
“We can better build partnerships with the government and other non-government organizations for our livelihood projects if we move as one,” Villanueva said.
She also stated that she brought out the idea of organizing the WWDs in the municipality and eventually in the whole province, so that there will be officers who can represent them in the regional organization of women with disabilities.
“We will also be educating our fellow women with disabilities about our rights and privileges, as well as our roles, so that we can maximize our participation in the activities of our community,” Villanueva said. (TCB/PIA 2, Quirino)
