Dagupan’s disaster council to undergo training on collapsed structure SAR

DAGUPAN CITY, June 2 (PIA) -– This city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council is set to undergo training on safety procedures on search, stabilization and extrication of victims trapped in collapsed structures by the Makati City’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team.

The training-seminar on Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue is set on June 12 -14 at the BSL Hall of the Department of Education Division Office in Dagupan City. Lectures will be on the first two days while simulation of the skills learned is scheduled on the final day.

“Earthquake, tsunamis and disasters will happen. We will be called upon, whether we like it or not, to render our service that is expected of us,” City Administrator and council Executive Director Vladimir T. Mata said during a briefing for the 30 participants chosen from the council’s component government offices, selected barangay councils and partner volunteer groups.

Comprising the delegation for the city government are representatives from the offices of the engineering, agriculture, planning and development, health, accounting, and general services,

Participating volunteer groups sending trainees to the program are: Philippine Red Cross, Philippine Navy, Police Hotline Movement Inc., Scooter Riders of Dagupan, Philippine Assistance Communication Group and Dagupan Panda Volunteer Fire Brigades.

Representatives from each barangay councils of barangays I, II , III, IV, Poblacion Oeste, Herrero-Perez, Pogo Chico and Pantal were also accommodated for it is in these villages within the central business district where the high buildings and structures are located.
