QC localizes cancellation of classes in times of calamities
QUEZON CITY, July 9 (PIA) -- The Quezon City government is localizing the cancellation or suspension of classes during typhoons, flooding, and other weather disturbances.
The QC government is authorizing barangay heads to suspend classes in times of heavy downpour even in the absence of a typhoon signal.
The localized suspension will be necessary in case of flooding and other high risk situations in their localities.
In accordance with Presidential Executive Order No. 66, the punong barangay is authorized to cancel or suspend classes not later than 4 a.m. for morning classes and 10:30 a.m. for afternoon classes in the locality.
The punong barangay acts as chairman of the barangay disaster risk reduction and management council (BDRRMC) and will be in close coordination with the school head in the barangay.
The BDRRMC shall immediately report to the QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (QCDRRMC) action officer the cancellation or suspension of classes in their locality.
For dissemination of the information to the public, the QC Public Affairs and Information Services Office (PAISO) will issue media advisories regarding the cancellation of through diverse mass media, particularly radio and television, landline communications and other technologies within the community.
