Landbank targets to install 100 new ATMs by 2012

MANILA, July 20 (PIA) -- The Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) said it is targeting to install 100 new ATMs by the end of 2012.

In a statement, Landbank said it has already installed 65 new ATMs across the country, especially in underserved areas in the provinces.

Landbank President and CEO Gilda E. Pico said addition of new ATMs demonstrate the bank's continuing commitment to provide convenient banking service to its depositors and customers.

"This also complements our ongoing branch network expansion as we remain aggressive in our thrust to bring financial services closer to more Filipinos, especially in 'underbanked' areas," Pico added.

Landbank currently has the fourth largest ATM network in the industry with 1,013 ATMs nationwide, more than 70 percent of which are located in the provinces.

Landbank is also rolling out mobile ATMs within the year to aid in the distribution of cash grants to beneficiaries under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, the government's flagship poverty reduction program. The mobile ATMs can be deployed from one place to another. The first batch of 10 mobile ATMs will be deployed initially in selected areas in the National Capital Region. (LB/RJB/JCP/PIA NCR)
