MM police intensifies drive vs ‘colorum’ vehicles
TAGUIG CITY, Oct 22 (PIA) -- The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) continues to intensify its drive against "colorum" or illegal vehicles operating in major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.
In a statement, NCRPO said members of the Quezon City Police District’s Traffic Enforcement Unit together with personnel of city government’s Department of Public Order and Safety has conducted anti-colorum operations covering different major thoroughfares in the city.
The operation conducted last October 17 has resulted to the capture of two Asian Utility Vehicles (AUVs) along Quezon Avenue corner Araneta and five more AUVs along EDSA in Quezon City.
NCRPO said out of the seven impounded colorum vehicles, three were driven by active police officers from the PNP National Support Units.
QCPD’s Special Reaction Unit with DPOS traffic enforcers also conducted anti-colorum operations along Mindanao Ave. corner Sanyo Road and along Aurora Blvd. corner Anapolis St. and seized seven colorum vehicles and 13 others for traffic violations.
Meanwhile, members of the Southern Police District also conducted anti-colorum operations in Parañaque, Las Piñas, Taguig and seized 14 motorcycles traversing as "habal-habal."
