PNP promotes healthy lifestyle among personnel
QUEZON CITY, June 22 (PIA) -- The 143,000 men and women of the Philippine National Police (PNP) are now back on track to better health as PNP chief Nicanor A. Bartolome recently led the kick-off ceremony of the Weight Loss Management Program.
In a release, the weight loss management program is part of the PNP’s Health Awareness Campaign and Pulis Pangkalusugan Program, PNP-Health Service in cooperation with Herbalife International.
The PNP, being one of the community-based agencies, must be transformed physically, psychologically, mentally, socially, and spiritually since its personnel have the most involvement in the community.
Part of the program, a workout, is scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon both for uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the PNP.
The athletic activity was earlier directed by the PNP chief under the ‘Mabuhay Ka Pulis!’ program. The advocacy seeks to re-introduce, re-inform, and re-form PNP’s health practices for a healthy lifestyle.
Likewise, the program gives PNP personnel a perspective that there is more about health other than physical exercise. These aspects of health have to be rekindled in order to reach their potential as the best public servants.
“Mabuhay Ka Pulis! serves as a wake-up call to all the 143,000 PNP personnel in achieving a healthy lifestyle not only because of our duty as law enforcer but for our personal welfare,” Bartolome said.
The program was also manifested in the campaign slogan of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking dubbed “Kalusugan ay kayamanan, Droga ay Iwasan” that aims to promote healthy lifestyle and public awareness on the bad effects of illegal drug use. (PNP-PIO/RJB/JEG-PIA NCR)
