Taguig City awards 24 top cooperatives
TAGUIG, April 27 (PIA) –- The city government of Taguig recently awarded 24 outstanding cooperatives with certificates of appreciation and financial assistance.
According to Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, the awards were given to select cooperatives in recognition of their notable contributions to the city government’s effort in creating livelihood opportunities for Taguigenos, as well as their important role in nation-building.
The awarding rites held last Tuesday, April 24 at the City Hall Auditorium is part of the week long Taguig Livelihood and Career Expo 2012 with the theme: “Sa Kooperatiba, Buhay ay Giginhawa: Parangal para sa Pinakamahusay na Kooperatiba sa Taguig.”
The expo is one of the various activities lined up in celebration of Taguig’s 425th founding anniversary.
Cayetano was joined in by City Councilors Jojo Eron and Jimmy Labampa, Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) National Capital Region extension office Director Salvador Valeroso, and manager Ariel Castor of Landbank Taguig City Hall branch during the awarding of certificates and P30,000 financial assistance to each of the winning cooperatives.
The local chief executive lauded the cooperatives as she reiterated her assurance to 96 active cooperative organizations that the city government will continue supporting all their projects and programs that genuinely uplift the welfare of their members.
