Hundreds of jobseekers hired on the spot at the Independence Day job fair
QUEZON CITY, June 13 (PIA) -- A total of 732 jobseekers were hired on the spot during the 2012 Kalayaan Job Fair yesterday at the Lagoon Area of Rizal Park in Manila.
These 732 hired jobseekers, 446 for local employment and 286 for overseas, were applicants for entry level positions.
Based on the reports from the Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), a total of 10,605 jobseekers were registered, 6,160 male and 4,445 female.
Meanwhile, at least two out of 10 applicants interviewed by PIA-NCR personnel who covered the event said that they were informed of the Kalayaan 2012 job fair thru PIA Text Blast.
Among them is a male jobseeker who learned about the job fair thru his mother.
The jobseeker said that his mother received a text message from PIA-NCR that said that there are thousands of job opportunities at the DOLE-initiated job fair that will be held during the 114th Independence Day celebration.
The jobseeker’s family was found to be a beneficiary of the government's Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and is among the recipients of the PIA Text Blast. (SDL/PIA-NCR/RJB)
