9th Golf for Kidney Care raises funds for patients
QUEZON CITY, July 3 (PIA) -- The 9th Golf for Kidney Care Tournament was held on Wednesday, June 27, at the Philippine Navy Golf Club in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. The charity golf aimed to raise funds for kidney patients needing dialysis assistance and transplant.
According to Kidney Foundation of the Philippines (KFP), organizer of the event, 77 players joined the 18-hole tournament at the hilly par 70 layout, and P450,000 was raised.
Celebrity players included Lawyer Raul Lambino, journalist Ducky Paredes and sportscaster Anthony Suntay.
In the tournament, former Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Eric Buhain is low gross champion with a score of gross 75.
Ben Baniel, a home décor trader from Taguig City, shot a net 69 and was declared the overall champion. He went home with a trophy and prizes from major tournament sponsors San Miguel Corporation, Mizuno, Autohub and Del Monte Juice.
Ed Bolaños is the winner in the Men’s Class A division with a net 70, while Jun Escano, who shot a net 72, is winner in Class B. Class C winner is Jessie Antonio, who had a gross 70. Nap Tan emerged champion in the Senior’s Division with a gross 70.
In the women’s division, Jo Barredo ruled her with a gross 72. Vivian Mawis is first runner-up with a gross 73.
Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Health Secretary Enrique Ona led the ceremonial tee off Wednesday morning.
