ASEAN holds contest for youth on its 45th anniv
QUEZON CITY, May 29 (PIA) -- The Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) is holding an art contest for the region's youth from May to July 2012 with the theme “ASEAN: One Community, One Destiny" in celebration of its 45th anniversary.
In a letter addressed to all member states, ASEAN Deputy Secretary General Nyan Lyn said that the contest is aimed to raise ASEAN awareness among youths from the early age and to encourage their participation in the celebration of ASEAN’s 45th anniversary on August 8, 2012.
The contest also promotes youth artistic talent and highlight what unites youth around the region; reflection and understanding of youth on ASEAN community-building; and integration efforts towards the ASEAN Community by 2015 - one community and one destiny; and encourage youth participation in ASEAN activities.
Lyn said the contest is open to young nationals--Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam--between the ages of 6-12 and 13-18. Drawings must be original and authentic.
The works should be submitted in the format of a drawing representing the values of unity and solidarity with a short caption. The caption should not exceed 2 lines and should be written at the registration form.
The drawings should be sent on an A3 sized paper and should be one-sided in full colour. Water Colour, Crayons, Colour Pencils, etc. can be used to fill the color.
All submissions should be sent to the ASEAN National Secretariat in each ASEAN Member State by Friday, 6 July 2012. The address is attached on the registration form and is available on the ASEAN Website: www.asean.org.
