BFP intensifies fire safety campaign in Metro schools

QUEZON CITY, May 30 (PIA) –- Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officer-in-charge Chief Supt. Samuel Perez on Tuesday ordered BFP personnel to heighten the safety awareness campaign in public and private schools in Metro Manila.

Perez said he also wants to improve the promotion of fire safety awareness campaign through the conduct of lectures, fire drills and distribution of fire safety materials.

“We will conduct our evaluation thoroughly. Even the smallest fire safety violation shall be checked considering that what is at stake here is the safety of our people,” he said in a press release.

Earlier, BFP said in a press release that Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo directed the agency to step up the inspection of all school buildings in side private and government-run universities and colleges, student dormitories and boarding houses to check on their compliance to fire safety requirements and standards.
