DAP and DOH continues partnership

QUEZON CITY, June 20 (PIA) -- The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) and the Department of Health (DOH) continues its partnership to produce skilled health system reform implementers and rural health development managers.

These health system reform implementers and rural health development managers are trained to provide better health services to Filipinos in rural areas under the Master in Public Management major in Health Systems and Development (MPM-HSD) of DAP’s Graduate School of Public and Development Management (GSPDM).

MPM-HSD is a 38-unit interdisciplinary graduate program for the Doctors to the Barrios (DTTBs), health sector practitioners and professionals.

A total of 114 Doctors to the Barrios were recently recognized for completing certain levels of the MPM-HSD program. 73 of which were awarded Certificate in Public Management for earning 24 units, 39 received the Diploma in Health Systems and Development for earning 33 units. Lastly, two were conferred the master’s degree title for completing the 38-unit program.

The 114 health practitioners were given recognition in a ceremony held on June 1, 2012 at DAPs Conference Center in Tagaytay City.

Present during the graduation ceremony were DAP President Antonio D. Kalaw Jr., DAP GSPDM Dean Dloria Jumamil-Mercado, DOH Undersecretary Nemesio T. Gako, and other officials from DAP and DOH.

The program has produced a total of 28 DTTBs graduate since its inception on May 2010.
