PPP-funded classrooms ready for bidding - DPWH
QUEZON CITY, Apr. 21 (PIA) -- Secretary Rogelio Singson of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced Friday that the bidding schedule for the 1st public-private partnership (PPP)-funded classrooms will begin June this year.
Singson said that the bidding schedule set this June is for the construction of 10,000 classrooms. He further said that under the PPP-funded school building program, DPWH and Department of Education are planning to construct a total of 30,000 classrooms.
Moreover, Singson said that once the bidding process this June becomes successful, another 10,000 classrooms will be constructed the following year. He added that this (School Building Program) will help in substantially reducing the backlog of DepEd school buildings all across the country.
Singson said that DepEd needs at least 60,000 classrooms for the whole country.
Further, Singson said that the lists of schools that are to receive the classrooms are yet to be identified by DepEd.
