More than 300 skilled workers needed in Qatar

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, July 3 (PIA) -- The booming construction industry in Doha, Qatar is in need of 314 skilled workers.

To facilitate the opportunity, the Department of Labor and Employment Region 1 (DOLE1) will conduct series of special recruitment activities (SRA) this month to fill up the growing demand of job vacancies abroad.

The SRA will be on the following dates and places: July 5-6, Sto. Tomas, La Union; July 9-10, Sudipen, La Union; July 12-13, Salcedo in Ilocos Sur; July 23-24, Caba, La Union; and July 26-27, Alilem, Ilocos Sur.

The job vacancies include drivers, driving instructors, electricians, crane operators, auto-mechanics, waiters/waitresses, physical therapists, cashiers and salesladies.

“We are aware that gainful and decent employment is a priority need of our people. Our employment facilitation and job search assistance services through job fairs and special recruitment activities are our answer to this need,” DOLE 1 Director Grace Y. Ursua said.

She also assured that through public-private partnership, they will bring employment opportunities to the people to help them break free from poverty.

According to DOLE 1 information officer Jeridee Orate, the screening process will be conducted by Humania International Inc., a registered manpower service provider of the Philippines and will be facilitated by DOLE Region 1.

All interested applicants may visit their respective Public Employment Services Office of the above mentioned municipalities on the dates specified. Just bring resume, passport and other credentials needed in working abroad. (ANL/MBR-PIA 1 La Union with reports from DOLE 1)
