School publications in Pangasinan soon to be digital
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Sept 18 (PIA) -- School publications in Pangasinan will soon be digitized.
This developed as the provincial government proposed to student journalists and school paper advisers in an orientation-seminar to create a digital counterpart of their school papers.
Governor Amado Espino, Jr. said many print and broadcast content providers and information sources as well as other media websites, both local and foreign, have shifted from traditional media into using digital media for faster avenues of communication to the people.
This does not aim to replace the school paper but rather to augment it and make it more cost-effective and far reaching, he said.
Around 300 student journalists and school paper advisers from the six elementary and secondary school divisions here attended the orientation-seminar on digitizing school publications held on Friday at the Capitol Resort Hotel in this town.
The participants were briefed on turning school papers into a website format and posting it on the internet as well as on the website’s maintenance.
Jim James Pablico, publication adviser in Robert Estrella Memorial National High School in Rosales town said.
“It is timely because we are in the computer age. Every aspect of our lives, including media, must adapt to the changes,” Pablico said.
This project of the provincial government instills responsible and meaningful utilization of the internet to the youth so that they can make a positive contribution to their school and feel an integral part of the school community. (ANL/AMM-PIA 1 Pangasinan)
