DAGUPAN CITY, June 1 (PIA) -– The Department of Education (DepEd) in this city advised all public schools to strictly observe the “no collection” policy during enrollment.

This order, implemented by DepEd, refrains public school officials from collecting any fees from students to encourage more parents to send their children to school and complete basic education.

Dr. William Macob, education supervisor of the city schools division said in a radio interview that all educators in public schools here were informed regarding DepEd’s policy. He added that all teachers were given the guidelines of this policy, reminding them not to collect any contribution this enrolment.

“Makakaasa ang lahat ng mga magulang na walang maniningil sa kanila kapag nagpa-enrol ang kanilang anak ngayong pasukan (Parents can expect that nobody will collect from them when they enroll children)," he asserted.

Macob further clarified that there is no collection for voluntary school contributions (VSCs) during enrollment period and the first month of classes.

These VSCs cover Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP), Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Anti-Tuberculosis Fund Drive, Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), school publication and membership in pupil or student organizations.

However, VSCs shall only be collected on the month when these organizations will hold an occasion. For example, the BSP fee is collected every October for the event of the Boy Scout Organization and this is also true with the GSP fee, explained Macob. (PIA-Pangasinan)
