San Roque dam releases info, no cause for worry

DAGUPAN CITY, Aug. 21 (PIA)-- Information regarding dam releases during typhoon and heavy rains should not be withheld from the public as it serves as a warning to people, particularly those living in flood-prone areas, Abono Party List Representative Rosendo O. So said on Friday.
The information is even important, as it would give people enough time to prepare for flood, he said during the Media in Action Forum of the Pangasinan Press Club recently.
The congressman from Rosales town said he did not worry when he received information from San Roque that it was dumping water due to the heavy monsoon rains last week, even though the output would run along the river near his residence.
Earlier, Rosales town Mayor Ricardo V. Revita called for media blackout on such information saying it has caused panic among the people, particularly those near the dam.(JCR/ARRF-PIA 1, Pangasinan)
