TABUK CITY, Kalinga, April 23 (PIA) -- Rural Health Units (RHUs) here will be using soon the Department of Health National Online Stock Inventory Recording System (DOH-NOSIRS) in their reporting process.

Carmen Baliao, Family Planning Coordinator of the Provincial Health Office, said that training is being arranged for the supply officers and program coordinators handling logistics from the 11 RHUs in the province. The activity she said would involve a hands-on instructions on the new NOSIR system to acquaint the participants on the DOH reporting system.

Through project, the government would be able to centrally make an inventory and monitor the supplies and logistics in RHUs nationwide in a monthly and quarterly basis.

The system she said would give the health department a more accurate data of all the supplies provided to each RHU. This would help them identify what to replenish to avoid stock out and expiry of excess supplies.

The data from the system he said could also serve as basis for stakeholders and planners in their policy-making and budget allotments.

Another advantage she said is that reporting would be speedier and on-time, saving time, personnel and even supplies since all the data will be sent and recorded online.

The only concern she said is the establishment of internet connections in the RHUs so they could regularly access their accounts for their reporting. (GGD, PIA-CAR, Kalinga)
