P300-M infra projects in OrMin completed by 3Q
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, Aug 2 (PIA) -- Four major infrastructure projects worth P300 million in the first district of Oriental Mindoro are set to be completed before September this year.
These include road concreting of northern part of Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH) in Victoria town. The P25-million project was commenced Feb 6, and is more than 80 percent completed, said Nestor Del Rosario, assistant district engineer at the Department of Public Works and Highways. Project contractor is Sixteen Enterprises.
The reconstruction or replacement of Longos Bridge and its approaches in Baco municipality is more than 75 percent completed, Del Rosario said. Project cost is P102 million. It will be completed within 300 days. Work on the project began in January 2012.
The reblocking with asphalt overlay of some portions of the national highway in the southern part of Calapan City was also already completed. Project contractor is STX Enterprises.
Del Rosario said the ongoing reconstruction or replacement of Abaton-Maidlang II Bridge and its approaches in the western remote area of this city is so far, running smoothly and is expected to be completed this coming September. The said P144.9-M project has received funding from the Australian government.
The new bridge will replace the condemned Abaton-Maidlang Bridge, and will connect the western sides of this city and Naujan municipality.
Del Rosario and other DPWH officials Efren G. Padilla , Alexander Malitao and Roman Ante, have shown newsmen the progress of the projects during ocular inspection, which were done to promote the agency’s thrust toward transparency in governance. (DPWH4B/LBR/JRM-PIA4B)
