Typhoon 'Igme' moves north, continues to intensify
QUEZON CITY, Aug 21 (PIA) -- Moving northward, typhoon 'Igme' continues to intensify at maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Based on its 11 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa said Igme, which has gustiness of up to 195 kph, is moving north at 11 kph.
Located 380 km east of Aparri, Cagayan at 4 a.m. today, the typhoon is expected to be 360 kilometers (km) east northeast of Basco, Batanes by tomorrow morning.
Pagasa said, Igme is estimated to bring moderate to heavy rainfall at 10-25 millimeters per hour within its 600 km diameter.
Signal number 1 remains raised in Cagayan, including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands and Batanes Group of Islands. (PIA-GHQ)
