PDEA to open field team office in Kalinga
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, June 18 (PIA) --A field office of the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Authority (PDEA) will be established here to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province.
Tabuk City Mayor Ferdinand B. Tubban disclosed that Cordillera Police Regional Director Benjamin Magalong has approved the request of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) for the assignment of PDEA field team to Kalinga and has ordered the assignment of PDEA field team to be based in the city.
Gov. Jocel C. Baac, who is the PPOC Chairman, said the PDEA team shall closely work with the entire peace authority of the province to rid Kalinga from illegal drugs, which is a priority program of his administration.
The province had earlier created the Provincial Anti-illegal Drugs Committee under the PPOC.
Intensified operation by the police and anti-illegal drugs agents here has resulted to the discovery and destruction of 25,000 fully grown marijuana plants and arrest of suspected “shabu” pushers over the weekend.
To sustain the campaign, continuing information and education drive is being conducted by anti-illegal drugs groups through media and inter-personal communication on target sectors in the province. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR,Kalinga)
