DTI appoints two new CMDF board members
MAKATI CITY, Aug. 19 --The Construction Manpower Development Foundation Inc. (CMDF), the Department of Trade and Industry’s training arm for the skills development of workers in construction industry has two new board members.
DTI Secretary Gregory Domingo recently appointed Atty. Teodoro C. Pascua, Deputy Director General of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Augusto F. Manalo, President of Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) to the Board of Directors of CMDF, which is composed of members from the construction industry and government sector, a release from DTI said.
Atty Pascua is TESDA’s Deputy Director General for Field Operations. He was the former Chairman of Board of Trustee of Wesleyan University Philippines in 2009-2010. He served as legal counsel for Cityland Development Corp. and as legal assistant at Department of Labor and Employment. He also had co-written a book on remedial law. Atty Pascua earned his law degree from the University of the Philippines.
On the other hand, Augusto Manalo is the President and CEO of JE Manalo and Co. Inc. Prior to his current post as President, he served as Director, Treasurer and Vice President of PCA in 2008-2011. He was the President of the Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL) in 1998-1999. Manalo holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines.
Atty. Pascua and Manalo will join the 5-member CMDF board of directors chaired by Rodolfo C. Menguita of DM Consunji Inc., and members Liberito Espiritu of DATEM Construction and Rogelio Lombos of EDCOP Consultancy Co.
An attached agency of DTI, the CMDF was created in 1981 by the virtue of Presidential Decree (PD) 1746 as one of the Boards of the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP). CMDF is currently headed by Director Jesus Motoomull.
CMDF oversees the development of a globally competitive workforce of the construction industry. It offers a variety of specialized trainings for craftsmen, engineers, supervisors, and project managers of construction companies which are geared toward improving productivity, construction safety, skills and supervisory development.
CMDF training courses include construction management courses, supervisory development, construction safety seminars, skills development and livelihood, skills testing and certification, and orientation seminar for students. (DTI)
