PNU to launch ‘Tipanan sa Guimaras at Iba pang Tula’

MANILA, July 12 -- Circulus Literati, the organization of literature majors of the Philippine Normal University, sponsors the launching of the latest book of poetry written by Venancio Lazaro Mendiola titled “Tipanan sa Guimaras at Iba pang Tula.”

The launching will be held at the Dagot Hall of the university on July 14, 2012 at 9 a.m.

Written in his native Tagalog tongue, the anthology is written by the eminent literary scholar whose creative works include a book of original English haiku (PNU Press, 2003) and a translation from Spanish into Tagalog of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude.”

“Tipanan sa Guimaras” includes more than a hundred original poems clustered into seven groupings. Mendiola’s Tagalog poems span and scrutinize the disparate subjects of the spirit, love, poverty and politics, family, feminism, nature, and ecology. Printed on book paper of 121 pages, this collection is published by the PNU Press. The book costs ₱150.

Circulus Literati has education students majoring in literature as members who are attached to the Department of Linguistics, Bilingual Education, and Literature of PNU. (PNU)
