Farm-to-market road, bailey bridge turned-over to Pasil town
PASIL, Kalinga, Sept. 21 (PIA) - - The engineering brigade of the Philippine Army recently turned-over to the people of Balinciagao, this municipality, a farm-to-market road (FMR) and a bailey bridge they constructed in partnership with the local government unit.
Mayor James Edduba expressed his gratitude to the 54th Engineering brigade and the 513rd Engineering Construction Battalion for their efforts in opening and gravelling the FMR at sitio Pugong-Wagas benefiting the populace who are mostly farmers.
He said the engineering battalion extended the work scope beyond what was in the program of work. “We are thankful that the length was expanded and a box culvert was converted into a bailey bridge to really cater to the needs of the people,” Edduba said.
For the LGU’s part, Edduba committed to provide two laborers and "caminero (road maintenance worker)" for the maintenance of the road.
The office of Congressman Manuel Agyao also committed to allot funding next year from his priority development assistance fund to further improve the FMR.
Col. Demosthenes Santillan, commanding officer of the 54th engineering brigade, told beneficiaries that their command is on call to help in the infrastructure build-up of the province.
Meanwhile, Lt. Colonel Randy Fajilagutan, commanding officer of the 513rd engineering construction battalion said that the project is part of the Kalayaan Barangay Program that aims to provide needs of barangays liberated from the influence of the New Peoples’ Army. (PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
