Kalinga to construct 50-bed payward
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Aug 2 (PIA) - - The Kalinga Provincial Hospital will be expanded with the construction of a 50-bed right-wing pay ward to decongest patients during peak months and also serve paying patients.
Dr. Romulo Gaerlan, provincial health officer, said the provincial hospital is too small and can not accommodate patients during the summer and rainy months, the months when diseases peak.
He said the P33 million expansion building had already been bidded out and is expected to be completed by year end as provided in the program of work.
The provincial local government unit also earmarked P5.8 million this year as its counterpart fund.
Gaerlan said another P14 million is allocated for facilities particularly equipments for the intensive care unit and laboratory.
The funding was sourced from the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health, he said in an interview.(PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
