Nutrition Month celebration culminates with contests
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, July 30 (PIA) -- The provincial government culminates Nutrition Month celebration on July 31 at the Peoples Gymnasium in Dagupan this city with contested events and fanfare.
Provincial Administrator Grace Flores said all sectors will participate, from infants to children to women and civil society organizations, in the celebration with the theme, “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain.”
She said 11 major activities will be contested by elementary and high school students, out-of-school youths (OSY), day-care children, Rural Improvement Club (RIC), and Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (Kalipi).
The cooking contest, the main dish will be contested by RIC and Kalipi; snacks preparation by OSYs and 4H clubs; and the nutri-quiz by the barangay nutrition scholars.
Poster, slogan, revival dance, extemporaneous speech and singing contest will be participated by high school students; the jingle by elementary pupils; draw and tell by day care entrants; and well-baby contest by nine to 11 months old infants.
Included in the criteria on the well-baby contest is that the baby has complete immunization record.
Representatives from the national line agencies and local offices will compose the three-member board of judges for each contested activity.
Earlier, Acting Governor Allen Jesse Mangaoang directed all municipal local government units to coordinate the participation of schools within their area.
He enjoined the support of all concerned since nutrition is part of the development agenda of the provincial government. (PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
