BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 22 (PIA) -- Local chief executives of the province of Agusan del Norte and this city have extended their condolences to the family of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
In a phone patch interview with PIA, Agusan del Norte Governor Erlpe John M. Amante said Robredo is a big loss to the country as he is one of the most dynamic secretaries the country has ever produced.
Amante also said Robredo has reached out to local government units in an effort to implement reforms in the government in line with the flagship program of the Aquino administration, particularly in implementing transparency and accountability in governance.
Amante extended his deepest condolences to Robredo’s family, saying the late secretary was a good man and sincere in his work.
The governor further hoped that Robredo's replacement would also do the same and continue to uphold and implement what he has started, to clean the bureaucracy.
Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. also expressed his sympathy and said Robredo is a big loss to the country especially to the city as he served as the bridge between the city government and the national government, through the President, in implementing transparency and accountability.
Amante is hoping that the Filipino people especially the local officials observe and implement the legacy of Robredo, considered one of the most energetic, sincere and dedicated officials of the Aquino administration.
Amante enjoined all public establishments in the province to observe the national days of mourning declared by Pres. Aquino on Tuesday, under Proclamation 460, from August 21 until the late DILG Secretary is laid to rest. (RER/PIA 13-Caraga)
