Ifugao launches 112th Phl Civil Service anniversary celeb

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Sept 4 (PIA) -- State workers in the province launched this morning the 112th Philippine Civil Service anniversary at the provincial capitol together with local officials of the province.

With the theme “Kawani, Ikaw Ay Isang Lingkod Bayani,” the occasion started with a short program participated by national and provincial office employees with their colorful presentations.

Valiant Fang-asan, officer-in-charge of Civil Service Commission (CSC) said, “The civil service includes the men and women working in government agencies/ bureaus and other instrumentalities which you and I belong,” he stated.

Fang-asan said “Kawani, Ikaw Ay Isang Lingkod Bayani” strikes at the core of civil servants’ virtues, values, principles, ethical standards and work philosophy since it suggests love, challenge, sacrifice and commitment to public service.

“We are being challenged to transform from mere public servants into servant heroes to lead modest lives, always ready to serve with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty and efficiency with patriotism and justice,” Fang-asan saidd.

He added that civil servants may hear and encounter controversies, harsh invectives as they strive to satisfy everyone and may also succumb to mistakes that critics would often prey on, sensationalize and pass judgment on.

Fang-asan said despite the mistakes and tirades, servant heroes must not falter but correct the mistakes and restore the people’s trust to disprove the doubts or any negative perception cast on them.

“Fellow colleagues in government, let us put our acts together in thought, in words and indeed because we belong in the league of “Kawanin, ikaw ay isang Lingkod Bayani,” he said.

Meanwhile, Governor Eugene Balitang emphasized that in cleansing the government, every civil servant should start from within hoping that everyone would follow suit. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
