Ifugao signs manifesto for the elimination of malnutrition among children
KIANGAN, Ifugao August 7 (PIA) - - Members of the provincial and municipal nutrition councils in the province had signed a manifesto last week pledging to help in the elimination of malnutrition especially among children province wide.
The signing of the said manifesto was held during the culmination of the month-long nutrition celebration last August 1 in this municipality.
Led by Governor Eugene, the different nutrition councils affixed their signatures on the tarpaulin containing the chartered strategies for implementation to achieve a malnourish-free community for the benefits of Ifugao children.
The nutrition councils stated that as a major stakeholders of the nutrition programs of the province, there’s a need to develop approaches and good practices of a wider scope of citizenry by involving all health care providers in the community.
“To enhance the provision of nutrition care and services for the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger there’s a need to enhance and engage in multi-sectoral participation, localization of interventions, prioritization and focus strategies, conduct evidenced based approaches and ensure sustainability in all levels,” the councils reiterated.
Furthermore, the provincial and municipal nutrition councils pledged also to commit and sustain the active participation and involvement towards the pursuit against malnutrition for better health to the attainment of the millennium development goals through “ONE NUTRITION, ONE NATION.”
Meanwhile, Governor Eugene Balitang called on the participants to rally behind the battlecry of government for a one nutrition, one nation which is geared towards eradicating malnutrition.
“If we have a healthy people then government will devote much of its resources in addressing other concerns such as education and the like,” Balitang said during the event. (MBL - PIA CAR, Ifugao)
