Ifugao nutrition council releases guidelines on vegetable cooking contest
BANAUE, Ifugao, July 24 (PIA) -- The provincial nutrition council (PNC) has released the cooking contest guidelines for better preparation and active participation of the different municipalities in the culmination of the month-long Nutrition Month celebration.
The culmination activity will be held in the municipality of Kiangan on August 1 anchored on the theme, “Pagkain ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-araw Itong Ihain.”
According to Dr. Mary Josephine Dulawan, provincial nutrition action officer (PNAO), vegetable cooking contest will be participated by the 11 towns of the province to be led by their municipal nutrition action officers (MNAOs) with a team called the cooking family composed of three members.
The main vegetable ingredient should be found locally or in the province . and could be washed and cooked with only five ingredients excluding the oil and salt.
Dulawan explained that the three-member structure may not be necessarily from the real of the same family member but it could be from the community as long as they represent the father, mother, and child.
“Contestants are given 30 minutes to demonstrate the actual cooking of their recipe that printed and posted in the cooking area for reference,” she stated. The recipe shall yield six servings.
The criteria for judging are as follows: nutritive value – 30 percent; overall presentation/appearance – 10 percent; palatability – 15 percent; originality – 15 percent;used of indigenous nutritious vegetable – 20 percent; and budget – 10 percent with a total of 100 percent. (MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
