LAMUT, Ifugao, July 5 (PIA) -- The local legislators here passed two resolutions pushing for the strict implementation of all approved ordinances of the municipality for the general welfare of the public.

According to the Sanguniang Bayan (SB) led by vice-mayor Victomar Bunnol, the call for the strict implementation of all approved ordinance is in response to the clamor of the public for the benefit of the municipality.

The legislative body further explained that their primary function is to enact laws, approve resolutions and appropriate funds for the general welfare of the municipality and its inhabitants.

In one of the resolutions addressed to the Provincial Director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and copy furnished to the municipal chief of police of Lamut, the SB member reported the presence of illegal cockfighting in some of the barangays of the municipality for proper action.

“This August body is not in favor of the illegal operation of cockfighting with n the municipality in compliance to the cockfighting la of 1974 and municipal ordinance No. 2005-03 otherwise known as ordinance providing for the establishment, operation and maintenance of cockpits and the regulation of cockfighting and commercial breeding of gamecocks in the municipality,” the legislators reiterated.
