DavNor cities to hold memorable independence day rites
TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, June 11 (PIA) -- Major cities in Davao del Norte will stage a lively and memorable 114th Philippine Independence Day celebration tomorrow.
In Panabo City, 45 living World War II veterans, and surviving immediate families of those who are already dead, will be given tribute.
The tribute to the war veterans will take place after the flag raising ceremony and wreath offering at the monument of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal located at the new City Hall grounds, where the city government will hold the 114th Philippine Independence Day celebration.
Meanwhile, the Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Aniano Antalan issued on June 5, a memorandum order directing all city officials and employees to attend the centralized commemoration of the Philippine Independence Day to be held at the Samal Cultural Gymnasium.
Aside from the flag-raising ceremony and the community singing of “Bayan Ko,” city department offices are asked to render solo or group presentations, may these be songs, poems, dances, or monologues that depict the significance of the celebration.
On the other hand, Tagum City will showcase various Tagumenyo talents, which will be presented to awaken Filipino patriotism.
Aside from the artistic presentations of students from Tagum City National Comprehensive High School-Special Program for Arts, there will also be rendition of Filipino songs, poems and "balagtasan." (JDA-PIA 11)
