Comval Guv clinches another Super Achiever Sandugo Award
NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley, June 8 (PIA) -- Local executives will be recognized during the National Sandugo Awards on July 24, 2012 in Manila.
In a letter from Department of Health National Center for Health Facility Development Director Juanito Taleon last May 14, 2012, Governor Arturo Uy and 11 municipal mayors of the province are invited for the awarding ceremony.
The awards is in recognition of the local government's support for the National Voluntary Blood Services Program of the national government. A total of 122 local chief executives will receive the said award.
For this year, Gov. Uy will be lauded again as the Super Achiever Sandugo awardee.
The province through its massive blood letting program had already contributed 11,301 bags of blood (500cc per bag) donated by 9,246 Comvaleños last year.
To receive the awards with Gov. Uy are Mayor Jessie S. Bolo of Compostela, Mayor Cesar C. Colina Sr of Maragusan, Mayor Lorenzo L. Balbin of New Bataan, Mayor Teofista T. Jauod of Montevista, Mayor Manuel B. Brillantes Jr. of Monkayo, Mayor Romeo C. Clarin of Nabunturan, Mayor Evalina J. Jampayas of Mawab, Mayor Arthur Carlos Volttaire Rimando of Maco,Mayor Hadji Amir B. Muñoz of Mabini, Mayor Juan Cipriano Celso V. Sarenas of Pantukan and Mayor Navarro of Laak.
The provinces have already achieved 100 percent voluntary blood donation.
A total of 110 Barangay Captains will also receive its “Hall of Fame Awards” together with Gov. Uy and the 11 Mayors in Manila.
Hall of Fame Awardees are those Barangay Captains who had been successively receiving Sandugo Awards for more than three consecutive years.
Republic Act No. 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994, promotes voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe blood and to regulate blood banks.
This act aims to inculcate public awareness that blood donation is a humanitarian act. The National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP) aims to create public consciousness on the importance of blood donation in saving the lives of millions of Filipinos.
The DOH is hoping that many individuals will become regular voluntary unpaid donors to guarantee sufficient supply of safe blood and to meet national blood necessities.
Its mission is Blood Safety, Blood Adequacy, Rational Blood Use and Efficiency of Blood Services. (IDS-Comval/Rodielyn A. Manugas)
