PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte, June 2 (PIA) -- Series of livelihood training under the city government’s Community Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Program (CSTEP) are being conducted in all barangays here.

These livelihood training include banana cake making, candle making, handicraft making, coin purse making, puto cheese making, chorizo making, banana chips making, among others.

The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of Panabo City has been spearheading the training with the help of trainers from the office of 2nd District Representative Antonio F. Lagdameo, Jr. since 2001.

Carlos Pesaña, one of the participants who already benefited from the handicraft making in 2001, shared that he has established his own business in basket and plate using coconut leaf sticks, and pot making.

“I have sold my products in different places like in Maco (Compostela Valley Province), Kapalong (Davao del Norte), General Santos City, and in several barangays in Panabo City,” Pesaña said in the vernacular.

He said many are placing orders, noting that in a year he is able to sell thousand products.

“The business is a big help to our family. Until now the business continues,” he stated, thanking Mayor Silvosa for “providing us the knowledge and skills.”

The livelihood training program is under the Poverty Alleviation Program of the city government. (CIO-Panabo City/Rogie Dumaboc)
