ComVal bats for intensive promo on jewelry industry

NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley, May 25 -- Stakeholders of the jewelry industry here are batting for the industry's intensive promotion and marketing in order to rouse interest among buyers.

This came after stakeholders gathered recently in a two-day training with PUM Netherlands, a Netherlands-based non profit organization to assess the current status of the industry and craft a marketing plan that will address the need to widen its market reach.

Basing the analysis on the workshop results of the participants, PUM senior expert Robert Mallee said the local jewellery industry faces three major marketing concerns – low level of production, limited advertisement and promotion, and low marketing/weak business linkages.

Department of Trade and Industry-Compostela Valley Program Office (DTI-CV) manager Lawyer Lucky Siegfred M. Balleque said having known these limitations of the industry, DTI along with the Department of Science and Technology, ComVal’s Provincial Planning and Development Office, PUM Netherlands, and other stakeholders will collaborate to come up with a comprehensive and doable plan, taking off from the initial marketing plan drafted during the workshop.

“If our aim is to increase our sales, then, we have to do the necessary steps to achieve this. And this includes improving the quality of our products, implementing the right marketing strategies, and of course, ensuring to meet the required volume,” he said.

PUM Netherlands is a non-profit organization, which has been advising needy businesses in developing countries and emerging markets for over thirty years. (CLC/DTI-11/JenMendoza)
