DAVAO CITY, Feb. 13 (PIA) -- Some 2,453 poor families in Sulop, Davao del Sur would soon be part of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Sulop information officer Fernando Cadiansa bared that these potential beneficiaries identified by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, came from the 25 barangays of the third class municipality.

Cadiansa said the regional office of DSWD represented by area supervisor Analou S. Torreon has spearheaded a thorough validation in the areas in coordination with MSWDO team headed by Amelia G. Mondejar.

He said that Sulop town is one of the new recipients of 4Ps nationwide this year.

Sulop Mayor Jose Jimmy Sagarino was in Manila Thursday to sign a memorandum of agreement with DSWD officials, he stated.

Cadiansa said that the program would provide the "extremely poor households" in Sulop the opportunity for cash grants through 4Ps Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program, adding that the program would "allow the members of the families to meet certain human development goals."

The 4Ps provides conditional cash assistance to the poorest households in the country in an effort to help improve the health, nutrition and education particularly of children aged 0 to 14 years old.

Sulop, a 3rd class municipality of Davao del Sur, has a population of 27,340 people with 5,800 households according to 2000 census. (PIA-11/Carina L. Cayon)
