Ifugao gets ready for 2012 Gotad Ad Ifugao

LAGAWE, Ifugao, June 5 (PIA) -- Activities for the celebration of the 47th Foundation Day Anniversary of this province, called “Gotad Ad Ifugao 2012,” were finalized in a the meeting recently held by the Gotad task force, event coordinators, and working committees.

According to Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Carmelita Buyuccan, the Chairperson of the Gotad Task Force, the five-day day celebration starting June 18, which is the Foundation Day, until June 22, will be participated by 11 towns and will allow everybody including tourists, visitors, and guests to enjoy the occasion.

The pre-celebration will start on June 16 with a “Photo Eskwela” at the Lagawe Central School followed by a thanksgiving mass and a moral recovery rally at the provincial capitol plaza on June 17.

The Grand Cultural Parade and Float Contest among the 11 municipalities of Ifugao will be held on June 18 including the grand opening program, opening of the agro-industrial-tourism promotion fair, contest on tour guiding and pre-pageant night for the “Search of Bugan ya Wigan di Gotad 2012”.

Events on June 19 will be the street dancing contest, cultural sports competitions, opening of sports games in basketball and volleyball for both men and women, contest on tourism promotional video and in the evening is the “Balikbayan Night and People’s Night.”

June 20 will be the start of the Cultural Extravaganza Contest featuring creative ethnic ensemble, Ifugao dance contest and chanting of the epic “Hudhud.”

It will also be the inauguration of the Lamut Provincial Hospital, and there will be public services such as free medical check-up for senior citizens, free legal services, jobs fair, skills fair and Abilympics, application for professional regulation licensing, cultural skills competitions and people’s theater contest in the evening focusing on agricultural and tourism promotion.

Continuation of sports games, G-string Marathon Race, S/N Aboitiz Corporate Social Responsibility Forum, and coronation night for “Bugan ya Wigan di Gotad 2012” will be held on June 21, and on June 22, the combative sports competitions, championship games in sports, and closing program will be held. In the evening, a concert called musical extravaganza will also be in place. (DBC/PIA-Ifugao)
